Carolina Godiva's Running Start Program is for you!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Yes, the Kickoff Event is STILL ON!

We hope to see you there but understand if you cannot attend. Either way, we'll see you Saturday morning!

Carolina Godiva Track Club (a non-profit organization and the oldest running club in the Triangle) offers its Bruce Koenig Memorial Running Start training program to those who've never run before and to the lapsed athlete who wants to resume running. Running Start is a non-competitive program designed to share the joy of running and help you reach your goal of a 5k. In addition to running, participants often make lasting connections with their fellow trainees (which is great for continued success in running beyond the program’s end)!

As a trainee, you will be guided through a progressive series of walk-run intervals over the course of 12 weeks. Along the way, you will be encouraged by volunteer “pacers” who are committed to helping you reach the finish line at your own pace. In addition, occasional seminars will provide valuable tips from local experts. After 12 weeks of hard work, we will hold a graduation 5k to commemorate your success and distribute finisher rewards!

The program is a weekly series of three runs at locations with ample parking:

Everyone runs at 8:00 am on Saturday at the Al Buehler jogging trail on Duke’s West Campus.

Then, participants choose two weekday evening runs from the following:

Important Dates:

(Note: this program is not affiliated with any religious organization; we simply rent the space for the event.) The Kickoff includes an orientation to the program structure, introduction of pacers, and on-site registration. The first training session is the following Saturday, March 17th at 8am on the Al Buehler jogging path on Duke’s West Campus.
