Candy Awards went to: Adam and Candi for fastest overall; Larry and Rachel for fastest masters; Mark Smith, Asher, Karen, Bryan and Betsy for closest predictors; David Rice for median finisher (by mistake, though David Elam had already left by the time we figured out that he was actually 25th); Bruce for hanging in there and finishing.

Many thanks to my co-race director and the host of the race Luke Lucas. Also, Carolyn Huettel, Deb Bialeschki, Joe Seufert, Nancy Pullen, Heather Sherrard, Margaret Irvine, Mary Szymkowski, and Barbara Hindenach were very helpful before, during and after the race.

We had dry, summerish weather for the Misery Run this year. We had a new Misery Run record of 49 runners! We had two starters scare the race director mere minutes into the race when I saw them walking back towards the start area (had they hurt themselves and abandoned the race already?!!). It turns out one of them had lost her car key and they were slowly retracing their steps to look for it. Luke and I helped them for a few minutes and Luke eventually persuaded them to run the race and look for the key afterwards, but as they were heading back out to re-start the first loop, they found the key. There was also an angry neighbor who thought part of the course was on her property (it wasn't) and yelled at and verbally threatened a good portion of the race field. Sorry about that. Luke went out onto the course to talk to her, but by the time he got to where she had been sighted, she was gone.

We had a fine race up front between Michael Mulligan and Adam Eigenrauch. Michael led the first of three loops with Adam close behind, but Adam forged ahead on the second loop and had a consistent lead the rest of the way. Candi Major was strong from the start and ended up well ahead of the next women.

Thanks to all the runners and helpers and cheerers for coming out and doing your thing.

-Jim Clabuesch (Race Director)
